Installation of a second CNC saw and a CNC punching and cropping fittings line completed to complement existing plant and to replace old equipment, enabling H Young Structures Ltd to continue to be at the forefront of competitive steelwork fabrication.

The new plant enables them to punch and bevel cut flat bars into end plates and shaped fittings, punch and cut angle sections, drill and saw straight or bevelled rolled sections, from data generated by the StruCAD 3D detailing systems.

The fittings line can process up to 500mm wide x 25 flats, and 200x200x20 RSA. Plates can be bevel cut up to +- 60 degrees, and can make multiple cuts, to form the required profiles.

The drill saw line has 3 drills and can drill holes in both flanges and web simultaneously. Sections can be bevel cut up to 45 degrees using the rotating saw.

Handling of information between departments will shortly be improved by the use of a management software system.
